Frequently Asked Questions
Yes, absolutely. Safety has been Alberti Diving’s number one priority since we were established in 1991. Diving is safe when you follow the rules and procedures. Our courses are designed to teach you these skills progressively in a controlled environment (like a pool) before progressing to open water, always under the direct supervision of experienced professionals.
This is a very common misconception! You do not need to be an Olympic swimmer. However, you do need basic water comfort for safety. For the PADI Open Water course, you need to be able to swim 200 meters (any style, no time limit) and float/tread water for 10 minutes. If you can do that, you can learn to dive!
The PADI Open Water Diver course is typically completed in 3 to 4 days. It consists of three parts: Knowledge Development (learning the theory, often done online), Confined Water Dives (practicing skills in a pool), and four Open Water Dives (demonstrating your skills in the ocean). We offer flexible schedules to fit your needs.
No problem at all. Many divers wear soft contact lenses while diving without issue. Alternatively, you can purchase a dive mask with prescription lenses installed. We can help you find the right optical mask solution in our gear shop to ensure you don’t miss a thing underwater.
Welcome back! If it’s been a while (usually over 6-12 months), we highly recommend a “Scuba Refresher” or “ReActivate” session first. It’s a quick, stress-free pool session with an instructor to brush up on essential safety skills and gear setup. It will boost your confidence significantly before heading back into the open water.
